Home Up

Wyaconda -- Gerth Funeral Service is the oldest business in Wyaconda.  Founded in 1904 by Fred Gerth Sr., the original building was across the street from the current location.  We have been in this location since 1920 when Fred and his partner and brother-in-law, George V. Baskett, built the current facility, which for 70 years was also a furniture store

Similar to the Memphis facility, the Wyaconda home has a non-denominational chapel that can  comfortably seat over 70 people.  This area is also used for viewing during a visitation, and is designed to provide a quiet moment of reflection.  The chapel features a light textured color and has a sound system to accommodate musical requests, as well as a podium for a speaker.  It can be rearranged to conform to a family's request and needs for a personal setting, as well as providing a showcase for a large display of flowers. This room has been a source of comfort for grieving families for over 80 years.

A new feature at the Wyaconda home is the coffee room.  This private area is a separate room where the family can take a break or guests can enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee while at the visitation.

The funeral home at Wyaconda, redesigned to provide a modern facility with a respect for the building's history, is just another part of Gerth Funeral Service's dedication to personal service and a tribute to the history of Wyaconda.
