Jennie Grace Scarlett, 77, of Keosauqua, Iowa, died Tuesday morning, April 22, 2008 at her daughter’s home in Gorin.
She was born the daughter of Benjamin and Flora (Courtney) Lee on a July 11, 1930 on a farm northeast of
Jennie went to a one room county school and later attended
She was united in marriage to Joe Beames in December 1946. To this
union three children were born. Jennie married Jack Mills in November 1955, and to this union two children were born.
She married Harry Scarlett in December of 1960. To this union, two children were born.
Jennie worked as a waitress in a café and at the Hamburger Inn and Santa Fe Reading Room in
She was a member of the Christian Church in Keosauqua.
Jennie’s hobbies included reading, walking, writing short stories, and poetry.
Most of all she liked to be around her children and grandchildren. She collected coffee cups and mugs.
She was preceded in death by her: parents; two children, Carol Mills and Howard Scarlett; a husband, Jack Mills in
1959; a grandson, Robert Coop; two sisters, Jean and Jane, and a brother, Robert.
She is survived by: three daughters and two sons, Jackie and husband Robert Coop of Gorin, Connie and husband Rick

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Friday, April 25, at the Keosauqua Christian Church with Brother Bill Shewmaker
